Grants for eligible landowners

The Central Virginia Land Conservancy is offering grant payments to landowners who wish to complete a conservation easement on their farm or forest land.

Thanks to a grant from the Virginia Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission, Central Virginia Land Conservancy is offering qualifying landowners grants of up to $10,000 to help offset the cost of professional services (legal and appraisal fees) necessary for completing a conservation easement.

Landowners must own land that is in active agricultural use (including forestry), and must also fall under maximum income requirements. Grant awards are available to landowners in Bedford, Campbell, Appomattox and Buckingham counties. Landowners must also meet the land conservancy’s requirements for accepting an easement on their property.

The first step is speaking with Central Virginia Land Conservancy staff. For more information, contact Charles Lacy at (434) 942-4320 or [email protected].

"We abuse land because we see it as a commodity belonging to us. When we see land as a community to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect.”
